Girls. we've come to the page where Orlando tells his story so far, enjoy! A superstar was born! Orlando Bloom was born on the 13th of January 1977, some people say the 13th is unlucky but for this lucky chap everything was a dream come true. His dream was set on being an actor, and that dream came true. At the age of 16, he joined the national youth theatre in London, spending two seasons there and gaining a scholarship to train with the British American Drama Academy. Like many other young actors he auditioned for many small parts for a number of television and film roles, landing into series such as "Casualty", and the movie "Wilde". He then attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for 3 years. It was there in 1998 where Orlando fell 3 stories high from a rooftop terrace and broke his back, but that DIDN'T stop him, NO, he quickly recovered, despite dreadful fears of being paralyzed for life. Soon after graduating from Guildhall in 1999 aged 22 he landed his dream role and began work on Lord Of The Rings in New Zealand which was to take him 18mnths away from home, playing the part of that blue eyed heart throb Legolas, a part which would make him a Superstar! Before filming even began Orlando spent two months training in archery, sword play and horseback riding in order to become the character of legolas. Sporting a long blonde wig, make up and blue contacts to disguise his natural dark hair and eyes, and olive complextion, he was unrecognizable, an angel in disguise! His look is as innocent as can be and not only that, he stands up to whoever or whatever gets into his path. While in New Zealand Orlando became a total daredevil, he took up extreme sports such as bungee jumping and snowboarding whenever he had the chance, to show off his impressive skills. He also learnt to surf board while with the actors playing the Hobbits. Orlando says "We sampled everything the country has to offer. The weirdest things to throw yourself off are to be found in New Zealand". He and Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) had many scenes together and soon became good friends during filming, Orlando says "Vig used to call me 'elf boy' , and id call him 'filthy human'. As an elf, I never got a scratch on me, never got dirty. And vig would come out with blood and sweat all over him. And he'd say to me, 'Oh, go manicure your nails'....."Viggo will go on about Elves and how they're always doing their nails and brushing their long, blonde hair, and being a prissy. And I just say : Well, at least I'm going to live forever! Got that! LIVE FOREVER!" Actually, all the actors became really good friends, during filming. Orlando and Dominic Monaghan (Merry) came up with the idea that all the 9 actors playing the members of the Fellowship should get tattoos to commemorate their experience, all did except for John Rhys- Davies (Gimli) he sent his stunt double along instead! Even Sir Ian Mckellen (Gandalf) kept to his side of the bargain and got a tattoo. The tattoo is the elvish symbol for 9 and Orlando got his on his forearm. He also has a tattoo of a sun on his abdomen (seen at the bottom of the page) that he got when he was 15. The Fellowship Of The Ring was released in December, 2001, and it was a total box office hit around the world, Orlando was a star! Young girls around the world swooned over his elvish good looks, there wasn't a person in the world who didn't know who Orlando Bloom was. He became an international movie star winning the award for "Breakthrough male" at the 2002 MTV Movie Awards, and was also nominated with the entire Fellowship cast for Best Ensemble Acting at the Screen Actors Guild Awards
